Our Story
The Ateker Sports Organization (ASO) is a community-based initiative that seeks to bring people together through sport while creating safe spaces, developing talent, strengthening social cohesion, and opening pathways to sustainable livelihoods. Sport provides a powerful platform for people from different communities, backgrounds, and generations to meet, compete, cooperate, and build lasting relationships. ASO will harness this power to promote unity, peace, youth development, inclusion, and economic opportunity across Ateker communities.
Flagship Initiative: Ateker Community Sports Games
ASO can establish an annual Ateker Community Sports Games bringing together teams and athletes from participating communities. The Games would not only determine winners; they would create a platform for people to meet, build friendships, exchange ideas, celebrate culture, and create opportunities together.
Football and other popular sports
Competitions in football, volleyball, basketball, and other widely enjoyed sports that bring communities together.
Women's and youth competitions
Dedicated tournaments that encourage participation of women and young people, promoting inclusion and equal opportunities.
Athletics and traditional sports
Track and field events alongside indigenous games that celebrate cultural heritage and physical fitness.
Coaching and referee development
Training programs for coaches and referees to improve standards, build capacity, and ensure fair play.
Talent identification
Scouting and identifying gifted athletes, providing them with pathways to higher levels of competition and development.
Sports entrepreneurship activities
Workshops and networking opportunities that empower young people to build businesses within the sports ecosystem.
